SECOND DAY'S RESULTS

OAMARU, October 21. The North Otago Jockey Club's second day's racing attracted a much larger gatheriing than the first day. The weather was fine and the course rather heavy. Speculation was again brisk; £1,973 was put through the machine, making a total of £4048 for the meetling. Results: — Tokorahu Welter. —Grand Stand 1, Mango 2. Also started—Boscastle, Stepaside, Vardo, Rio Grande, Harvest, Czarevna, Radium, Rose Bloom, Confident, Nainrangarie, Lady Parade. Rio Grande led to the straight, but in the last hundred yards swerved to the outside of the course. In a good finish Rio iGrande secured the verdict by a head, but a protest was entered on the ground of interference, and the stewards awarded the race to Grand Stand, with Mango second. Times 1 mm 26 ssec. Dividends, £5 12s and £1 18s. Presidents' Handicap, 1 mile. —Apollodoris 1, Somairoff 2, Ability 3. Also started—Convoy, Bulawayo, Juniper, Canticle, and Becky Seaton. Timey 1 ihin 53 sec. Dividends, £4 12s and £4. Stewards' Handicap, 4 furlongs.— Beau Seaton 1, Jolly Roger 2, Lady Lyonors 3. Also started—King's Guest, Mataku, Cuirosettia, Miss Hamilton, and Toney. From a false start Petrovna he&b Jolly Roger by a head, after a good race. Petrovna was then scratched, and the unoney on her on the machine ■was returned. Won by three-quarters of a length. Time, 54 3-5 sec. Dividends, £4 8s and 16s. London Welter Handicap, 7 furlongss —Grosvenor 1, Royal Crown 2, Second Notns 3." Also started—'Brighton, Dela<rey, Bomhastes, Bluestone, and Carlo. Won by a head. Time, 1 mm 42 sec. Dividends, £9 18s and £1 12s. The Belfield Hack Handicap was won by Grand Stand, paying £4, with Boscastle second, paying £3 14s. ~ Waitaki Handicap—Hilarity 1, Heirloom. 2, Makaroff 3. Scratched—Beau Seaton and Canticle. Time, 1 mm 7 sec. Dividends £17 12s and £4 18s
