WANGANUI WOOL AND SKIN SALES.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report :— The opening sale of the above Company was held yesterday afternoon, in their Nixon street store. A fiill muster of local and outside buyers (Wellington, Palmerston, and Taranaki), attended, and made tilings hum, as a perusal of the subjoined list will show. Considering how busy farmers are jusi now, the catalogue submitted was highly satisfactory, while prices real-* ised should be very pleasing to clients. Our catalogue consisted of some 1300 skins, 40 bales of wool, and 300 hides, besides tallow, horns, bones, horso hair, etc.

Wool.—Wool made 9id crossbred, crutchings up to 6|d, and dead 8£ per lb.

Sheepskins.—Prime crossbred to Bfd per lb., half-woolled sound pelts to S^d, short wools to 7^l, butchers' green skins to 8s each, pelts to Is 6d. Hides.—Good ox to 2os, medium ox 18s to 2'L-i, prime cow to 19s, medium cow 13s to 18s, calf skins to 4s 6d. It was noticeable that a large proportion of farmers' hides and some butch^ ers' were not well got up. A little more care in flaying and salting would handsomely repay our friends. Tallow.—Casks to 20s per cwt.

Horse hair Is 4d per lb. Bones.—lnferior 3s per ewt. Good condition would sell readily at up to 4a 6d.
