• " BOUGH ON BATS " AGAIN. PER UNITED PBESS ASSOOIATION. Wellington, November 6 Mrs Amelia Martin, wife of Mr JT. Martin, landlord of the City Hotel, committed suicide late last night or early this morning. For some time past Mrs Martin had been given to intemperate habits, and often threatened that she would end her life by taking poison. At midnight Mrs Martin informed her daughter, 12 years of age, that she had taken " rough on rats." The girl, however, took no notice of her, hxit ia6^___j_a__-_B— Jtima— n_-ti__ad_tJbat-__iß . parOeTof that particular poison had been removed from the shelf. Mr Martin, ""wno'bcoupied a separate room to his wife, spoke to ber at one o'clock this morning, but the latter said nothing of -having- taken -the DO_B_on. -- -At-seveiT this morning, Mrs Martin was found dead in bed, and on her dressing table was a glass containing traces of "rough on rats," while an empty box, whioh had contained the poison was found in a drawer in her room.
