REV. J. ELMSLIE.
We take the following particulars from the Melbourne Argus of October 17th :— "The Eev. J. Elnißlie, o£ Christchurch, New Zealand, who recently arrived in Melbourne from that colony for the purpose of temporarily occupying the pulpit of the Scots Church, Collins-atreet, preached his first sermon at that church yesterday morning, in the presence of a moderately large congregation. He took as hie text Luke xxiv. 27, and delivered an evangelical discourse. .At the close of the service he stated that some time ago tbe congregation of this church was such that it was looked upon witk pride by Presbyterians all OYor tbe Australian colonies, and he trusted that before long it would be restored to the position it • formerly held. In the evening the rev gentleman based his discourse ou Job xxii. 21-"
