The-; chairman said that in the present state ofLthe finances it was absolutely necessary that only such repairs as were urgently required' should be undertaken; "Thefor'eliian was instructed to clear off Blips, and repair culverts and bridges, as far as possible with his present' staff. The board then went into com'mitteei and pa resuming Mr.' .Morgan' moved; 'the motion Btanding in ; hia iiame. ' It was moved as an amendment by Major Morse '.' That steps be taken, ' under the provisibns.of the Counties Act, 1876 and amendment thereto,: to form the Wangaehu Highway district into a separate' county to ;be called the'..-Wanganui County with . a view of .merging - the present Road district into it,- and that the chairman be instructed -to take the necessary steps to carry this motion into effect." < The motion was seconded by Captain Montgomery. The chairman said he entirely agreed with the amendment, which was carried unanimously. Bundry accounts were passed for payment and the board'then separated. .'
