BOWLING PROGRESSIVE TOURNAMENTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The local'Bowling Club held two progressive tournaments during the holidays. W. Higgison won the skips section on both occasions. G. Fitzgerald, D. Ferguson and J. Reid also secured wins. G. Brunton defeated F. Harrington, the holder of the Dennes Medal, after a close game. A Grass Fire. The Greytown Fire Brigade received a call yesterday afternoon to a grass fire which started in West Street and spread to the section behind Miss Wyeth’s residence. No damage was done other than the burning of the Shower of Rain. After a fairly long spell of dry weather. a shower of rain fell at Greytown at 9 o’clock this morning. Personal Items. Sgt. B. W. Drysdale and Mrs Drysdale are the guests of Mrs W. Drysdale, Humphrey Street. Mrs H. G. Carter and Miss M. Carter are spending the holidays at Titahi Bay. Messrs N. S. McLeod, J. Coleman and S. Bruce have returned from Palmerston North. TOWN HALL “NORTH WEST RANGERS" Tonight “North West Rangers.’’ an exciting drama featuring William Lundigan, Patricia Dane and James Craig, j will be shown. Tomorrow at the matinee and again in the evening there will be shown the thrilling drama “The Desperadoes,” in which the chief roles are taken by Randolph Scott, Claire Trevor and Glen Ford.
