ADOPTION OF ACCREDITING SYSTEM SENIOR MASTER TO CONTROL COLLEGE HOUSE The change-over from the matriculation examination to the accrediting system whereby Wairarapa College would become the only State secondary school in the district able to fulfil the conditions, together with the raising of the school leaving age to fifteen years, was discussed very fully by the Beard of Governors at the final meeting of the year. Wairarapa College is a- composite school giving instruction in home science and industrial training in addition to academic subjects for night pupils as well as the usual day classes, and in order that the Principal (Major G. G. Hancox, just returned from overseas service) might concentrate his full time to the educational side, Mr J. M. Bird, a senior master at the College, was appointed to control College House, and applications are being called for a matron, preference being given to one with nursing experience. Tfie question of a hostel for girl students was also discussed and a committee appointed to go into the matter.
