The death has occurred of Britain’s oldest bishop, the Right Rev. J. W. McCarthy, Roman Catholic Bishop of Galloway, aged 90. On Sunday, at Wellington, the death occurred, at the age of 76 years, of Mr Alfred John Reid, who was for many years associated with the produce auctioneering of the city
The many Masterton friends of Flight Lieutenant Agar and Mrs Agar (formerly Miss Rosamond Drummond, Lansdowne), will regret to hear of the sudden death of their infant son, aged 2 months, which occurred at Christchurch last Wednesday. The death ocurred on Christmas Day at his residence, Lyall Bay, of Mr David James Constable, who had been for a number of years prominently associated with the Wellington Com- j petitions Society After serving in theemploy of several of the larger drapery establishments, he set up in business in his own behalf in Courtenay Place, Wellington.
The death has occurred in Auckland of Mr James Gordon. Littlejohn, of Katikati, formerly city engineer at Nelson,'aged 75. Mr Littlejohn was born at Stirling, Scotland, and came to New Zealand as a boy. He was educated at Wellington College, and entered the service of the Lands Department, qualifying as a surveyor. For 14 years he was stationed in the Wairarapa district. In 1901 he resigned to become engineer to the Waimea County Council, Nelson. He held that position for 10 years, and served thereafter as engineer to the Nelson City Council. He is survived by his wife, five sons and two daughters.
