Pahiatua Maternity Hospital.

The provision of a maternity service Pahiatua was carried a step further at today’s meeting of the "Wairarapa Hospital Board. It was decided that plans for a twelve bed hospital should be forwarded to the Department of Health for an urgent building priority. Open Air Concert. The Westport R.S.A. was granted permission by the Masterton Borough Council last night to hold an open air concert, at which the Westport Boys’ Band would play, in Masterton on January 10. The concert is to raise funds for the Westport R.S.A.’s building programme. Permission was granted by the council for a collection to be made. Work Commended. The good work carried out by the staff at all the Wairarapa Hospital Board’s institutions was commended today when the acting-chairman, Mr Trevor Beetham wished board members, the hospital staffs and the ad(ministrative staffs seasonal greetings. Miss H. Card reciprocated for the board and Mr Norman Lee for the staffs. Christmas Dance. A special Christmas dance will be held by the Wairarapa Interhouse Association on Friday night when the year’s activities will be brought to a close. Father Christmas in his timehonoured attire, will be present and will distribute gifts to all present. A special feature will be a star item at 9.30 p.m. The association is making a special effort to make the occasion a happy and enjoyable one. Gifts Acknowledged.
