ELECTRICITY V. GAS

INSTALLATION IN STATE HOUSES.

“WHOLE POSITION UNFAIR.”

The Gas Association of New Zealand reported to a meeting of the Masterton Borough Council last night that it was making representations to the Government regarding the installation of gas in State rental houses.

In reply to an inquiry by Councillor G. W. Morice, it was stated that there was no change in the position locally.

The chairman of the gas committee, Mr A. D. Low, said that the Government had promised fifty per cent gas installations but in fact it was nothing like that. Councillor R. Russell said now wasthe time, while electricity was in short supply, to push the subject. • The Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, said the whole position was unfair.
