GOLF

MASTERTON CLUB FOURBALL COMPETITION. WIN FOR LONG AND BODLE. The final of the fourball competition was played during the weekend and resulted in an easy win for Long and Bodie by 7/6. Over the morning round the game was very even, Herbert and Brickman being one up. However,. in the afternoon Long and Bodie quickly got into their stride and playing excellent golf, took control of the game to finish the match at the 12th hole. At this hole Bodie almost sank his approach for a two, the ball resting a few inches from the pin. The match created a lot of interest amongst members and the winners were warmly congratulated on their excellent performance.

In presenting the trophies, Mr J. Jameson made reference to Mr R. E. Baker’s generosity in providing the prizes, and to him was due most of the credit for the inauguration of this highly successful competition.
