PARK CLUB COMPETITION GAMES The following are the results of the games played by members’of the Park Bowling Club this week: — Champion pairs: Griffiths and Spackman beat G. Brown and H. Smith 17/14, in a very hard game; J. Ewington and Stimpson beat Heath and Ferguson, 23/21; Andrews and Carr proved too strong a combination for the colts, Maxted and Garard. by 42/12; Moore and Kilgour beat O’Donnell and Osborne. 19/12; G. Brown and H. Smith beat Leigh and Carstens, 21/16; P. Smith and Macpherson beat Wallace and Shearer, 23/19, the score being 19 all on the 19th end.
Champion singles: Shearer beat Moore. 18/14; Jenkins beat Andrews. 24/17; Wallace beat Winhall, 22/10; Bell beat Drummond 19/17. the latter scoring well in the second half to almost overtake Bell. Andrews beat Carr 22/11. The score was 8 all at the half-way mark, but three 3’s to Andrews gave him a good lead. Trevorrow beat P. Smith 32/9, although the score was no indication of the really good bowling of both players. Osborne beat Edwards, 25/10. F. Dixon beat Duckworth, 21/12. Winhall beat Spackman, 23/11. Trevorrow beat Simpson. 21/9. The latter has been on the sick list, 'and was certainly right off form. Bell beat G. Brown 18/14, the scoring being very even until the final stages. Jenkins beat E. Brown 22/14 in the handiemap singles, both players having a handicap of 2. The Booth Cup teams to meet Carterton at home on Saturday are: Osborne, Jenkins, G. Brown, H. Smith (s); Duckworth, E. Brown, Carr, Simpson (s); Griffiths. Spackman, Shearer. Carstens (s); Trevorrow, Wallace, F. Dixon. Kilgour (s).
The Carterton Club extends an invitation to Park members not participating in the Booth Cup or Wall Cup fixtures to visit their club on Saturday. They have twenty-two new players this year and assistance from the Park Club on Saturday, in view of their more seasoned players being away, would be appreciated. A bus will leave for Carterton at 1.30 p.m. and already several members have signified their intention of making the journey. The following colls will defend the Wall Cup in a challenge game with the Masterton colts on Saturday:—Rossiter, Garard, Maxted, Stimpson. Any player not available for Saturday’s games is asked to notify the selector in good time.
