CALL-UP REPORTED IN TURKEY HUNDREDS GF AXIS SPIES ARRESTED. !WAR TENSION GROWING RAPIDLY LONDON, December 9. Turkey will call up an- . other 1,000,000 men within a month, says the “Daily AlaiL” quoting dispatches from the Turkish capital. 'Phis, with other steps which were taken yesterday, indicates that war tension is growing rapidly. A round-up of Axis spies is going on throughout the country, and hundreds have already been arrested. All Italians in the Istanbul area, estimated at 70,000, have had to register and a check-up is being carried out of those suspected of Fascist tendencies. Military precautions in the Dardanelles zone have been intensified. All traffic across the Turkish-Bul-garian frontier has been suspended; German troop concentrations continue along the Turkish-Bulgarian borders; and Turkish troop concentrations are occurring near Adrianople. These developments are reported by the Stockholm correspondent of the British United Press, but they are not confirmed from any other source.
