WEDDING
WIDDOWSON—BAIRSTOW A wedding of widespread interest took place at St. Peter’s Church, Pahiatua, recently when Lorna, only daughter of Mr and Mrs J. S. Bairstow, Ruawhata, was married to Maurice, son of-Mr and Mrs Widdowson, Christchurch. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore ah attractive afternoon frock of dusky pink, a pink hat relieved with blue, and blue shoes. She carried a bouquet of blue delphiniums and pink rosebuds. Mrs S. L. Jenkins, Masterton, cousin of the bride, was matron of honour and wor.e a smart afternoon frock of golden beige crepe with hat to match, and violet suede shoes and carried a bouquet in violet tonings. Sergt. C. Aislebie. 2nd N.Z.E.F. (on furlough) Gisborne, was .best man. Mrs Bairstow, mother of the bride, wore a becoming black ensemble with shoulder spray of scarlet gerberas. Mrs Widdowson, the bridegroom’s mother, was attired in navy blue with a shoulder spray of pink rosebuds. There were visitors present from all parts of. New Zealand. For travelling the bride chose a suit of duck egg blue with hat to match and tan accessories.
Mr and Mrs Widdowson left by plane for the South Island. Both the bride and bridegroom have returned from, active service in the Middle East, where the bride was a sister attached to the 2nd N.Z. General Hospital. Prior to her marriage she was on the staff of the Greytown Hospital. Mr and Mrs Widdowson are taking up farming at Papatawa.
