SCOUT RALLY
AT PARK ON SATURDAY BIG DISPLAY. INTERESTING AFTERNOON ASSURED. A big Scout rally is to be held at the Masterton Park on Saturday, at which lads from various parts of the Wairarapa will be competing for handsome trophies, which form portion of a Scout display in the H.B. windows, Queen Street. An excellent programme has been drawn up and parents and others who attend are assured of an entertaining afternoon. The competitions, which are for the Beetham Shield for Scouts and the Booth Cup for Cubs, include marching, tent pitching, knot tying, ambulance work, trestle building, water boiling and signalling. The Cubs will indulge in a jungle dance, finger bandaging, ball throwing and leap frog, besides marching, signalling and knot tying. Over 300 boys will take part. A produce stall will be held to-help defray the expenses and well-wishers are asked to leave donations of produce at the Transport Company’s office, Chapel Street, before Saturday, or to Ibring same to the Park on Saturday. A collection will be taken up on the grounds in aid of disabled soldiers of the Wairarapa. Mrs F. C. Brockett will give a talk during the afternoon on the work of the crafts circle of disabled .soldiers in Masterton. Included in the H.B. window display, besides the Beetham Shield, afe other trophies for competition, banners, examples of knots and other items of Scouting interest.
