COURAGE IN ATTACK
AND COOLNESS IN TIMES OF EMERGENCY AWARDS TO NEW ZEALAND AIRMEN. NOW SERVING OVERSEAS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, November 29. Citations to eleven awards announced today to New Zealand airmen serving overseas tell of determination in attack, courage against opposition and coolness in emergencies. The awards consist of two Bars to Distinguished Flying Crosses and five awards of the Distinguished Flying Cross, while four other airmen receive the Distinguished Flying Medal. St. John, Wellington. D.F.C. Flight Lieutenant R. C. Rawlings, R.N.Z.A.F. Father, Mr A. W. Rawlings, Dunedin. Acting Flight Lieutenant J. D. Henderson, R.N.Z.A.F. Father, Mr F. Henderson, Auckland. Flying Officer N. B. Blakey, R.N.Z.A.F. Father, Mr B. C. Blakey, Auckland. Pilot Officer J. H. Verrail, R.N.Z.A.F. Mother, Mrs M. Verrail, Wanganui. Pilot Officer N. Gardiner, R.N.Z.A.F. Mother, Mrs L. Gardiner, Rakaia. Pilot Officer W. E. Elder, D.F.M., R.N.Z.A.F. Father, Mr D. Elder, Gore. D.F.M. Pilot Officer (formerly Sergeant) J. D. Rudling, R.N.Z.A.F. Mother, Mrs M. L.
