DEATHS & DAMAGE
CAUSED BY EARTHQUAKE IN TURKEY. ANKARA RADIO REPORT. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, November 27. Ankara reports a severe earthquake on Friday evening. Shocks were felt throughout central Turkey. More than 100 persons were killed in Amasia, and the towns of Chorum and Tokat were considerably damaged. Ankara radio said this evening that the death roll resulting from Friday night’s earthquake in Turkey had now risen to over 1000. In addition 700 people were injured. The Turkish Government has sent special relief trains to the damaged area. The damage also was greater than first reported. Messages from India say that seismongraphs in Bombay last night recorded an earthquake shock the epicentre of which appears to be in the Kandahar region of Afghanistan. No further details are available.
