SWIMMING CLUB ELECTION OF OFFICERS ("Times-Age” Special.) At the annual meeting of the Ekelahuna Swimming Club the following officers were elected: —Patron. Mr W. Olsen; president, Dr E. M. Simmers; vice-presidents. Messrs J. S. Tripe, F. M. Goggin, D. D. Ryan and J. A. Taylor; club captain, Mr R. Gallagher; vicecaptain, Mr W. N. Richardson; secretary, Mr S. Daniel; treasurer, Mr A. H. Gray; auditor, Mr J. R. Wakelin; committee, Mrs Merewether, Miss C. •M. Wilson, Miss E. B. Simmers. Messrs Lockhart, Duffill, Murray. L. M. Brown, Southey and Scott. The matter of the appointment of a custodian was left to the president, secretary and club captain to deal with.
Members stood in silence for a few moments as a mark of respect to the memory of two valued members, Messrs G. Jesson and F. R. Littler who had died during the year. RED CROSS SOCIETY SUCCESSFUL CARD PARTY. There was a very good attendance at the flag 500 party on Saturday night. Mr Scott conducted the cards and three tables finished with the highest number of flags. One player from each table cut' for the prizes. The following were the successful winners:—Ladies: Mesdames Scott Raleigh (Tirauraea) and Kensington (Palmerston North). Men: Messrs Alex Boustard and W. Evans. Wandering shilling winner, Mr R. Farrow. Mystery parcel, Mr Green.
Mrs F. Hooper donated, the ladies’ prizes. The Society thank the following for donations: Mesdames Fredericksen, Toohill and W. Anderson. The hostesses were Mesdames Waterreus and Rodgers. Home-made supper was served.
