AMERICAN SECURITY

BOUND UP WITH EXISTENCE OF BRITISH EMPIRE. BROADCAST BY SIR NORMAN ANGELL. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, November 29. American security is bound up with the existence of the British Empire, said Sir Norman Angell in a broadcast address. At the very moment some people in America were warning us that the Empire ought to be dissolved, great American forces and resources are pouring into India, Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Isles, East and West Africa, and Britain itself to ensure the Empire’s defence. A famous American general is at present in command in Australia because the holding of that British Dominion is necessary for Japan’s defeat: Till international organisation appears the Empire and Commonwealth must continue to function, not only for the security of British communities stretching from Britain through Africa to Australia and New Zealand but for the security of all free nations.
