GAY SCENE AT MASTERTON' PARK INTERHOUSE ASSOCIATION’S ' PATRIOTIC EFFORT. DRILL & •MARCHING CONTEST. , There was a scene of pageantry at the Masterton Park Oval inis afternoon when the Wairarapa Interhouse Association’s gala activities inAiid of the Patriotic Funds commenced-, Twelve teams representing 120 daily’-costumed girls were on parade and the green of the oval and the attractive surrounding showed off the brilliance of the uniforms. After the teams had taken part jn a grand parade around the oval the Union Jack was unfurled and the Trentham Military Band played the National Anthem. The chairman of the executive committee, Mr G. Daubney, apologised for the absence due to illness of the president, Mr L. B. Maunsell, and declared the gala weekend officially opened. The Trentham band played the music for the marching. The presentation of trophies will take place at the American Red Cross Club, Masterton, tonight. Music for the dancing will be played by the Trentham Band orchestra. At the Park Oval tomorrow afternoon the Trentham Band will .present a band concert and marching d'Splay. Tomorrow night at 8.15 o’clock a variety concert will be presented by Trentham Camp performers and assisting artists. All activities will be in aid of the Patriotic Funds.
