OBITUARY
MR FREDERICK JAMES MILLER. - The death occurred early this morning of Mr "Frederick James Miller, of Paerau, Mt. Bruce. The late Mr Miller, who was 57 years of age, had resided in the Wairarapa all his life. The late Mr Miller, who was born at Bideford, was the eldest son of the late Mr and Mrs James Miller. He was educated at Wanganui College and had been farming at Bideford until 1924 and then at Mt. Bruce, following his acquisition of the property known as Paerau, where he had resided ever since. Mr Miller was a keen all-round sport. He had won many trophies as a member of the Opaki Rifle Club and of the Masterton Gun Club. In cricket, he took a leading part in organising the Bideford Cricket Club, of whioh'he » was captain until 1922, when he joined the United Cricket Club and captained its junior team. He also represented the Wairarapa in the junior eleven. An enthusiastic and keen member of the Masterton Golf Club, he played a prominent part in club competitions and in matches with other clubs and several years ago won the intermediate championship. He was vice-presi-dent of the Mt. Bruce Tennis for many years past and was a keen player.
The late Mr Miller is survived by a widow, a daughter (Mrs G. McGrath, of Wellington), a son, Mr F. H. J. Miller, of Paerau, and two grandchildren, besides two brothers, the Rev. R. Miller (Manaia, Taranaki), and Mr Hugh Miller (Morrinsville), and two sisters, Mrs C. V. Smith (Foxton) and Miss I. Miller (Rongotea). Two other sisters, the late Mrs J. W. A. Falloon (Bideford) and the late Mrs J. Renall (Pukekohe) predeceased him several years ago. The funeral will take place on Monday, leaving the late residence, following a service at 3 p.m. for the Masterton Cemetery.
