RED CROSS SOCIETY MEETING OF COMMITTEE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The last committee meeting of the Red Cross Society for 1943 was held on Wednesday night. Mr Priest (president) was in the chair and there was only a small attendance of members. Apologies for absence were received from Dr. Simmers, Nurse Dorse, Mesdames Rasmussen, W. Andersen, Mur-ray-Aynsley, Turnor, Waterreus, Rodgers and Miss Wilson. Mr Priest welcomed Miss R. White (Eketahuna commandant) as a member of the committee. Miss White suitably replied. On the motion of Mrs Bouzaid, seconded by Mrs Carseldine, it was decided to open a new account to be called the Local Sick and ’Wounded Fund, and that £lO be allocated out of this fund to help a local family to purchase clothing. It was reported that during November ten V.A.D’s. sat for their first aid examination, all being successful. A number of V.A.D’s. attended the memorial service held in connection with the death of Miss Margaret McAnulty. It was also reported that two teams had journeyed to Masterton last Saturday to compete for the cup donated by the Registered Nurses, one team being with Carterton for third place.

ANGLICAN CHURCH MEETING OF MOTHERS’ UNION. The monthly meeting of St. Cuthbert’s Mothers’ Union was held yesterday afternon. The Vicar, the Rev. J. C. W. Mutter, conducted the church service after which the members adjourned to the schoolroom for the rest of the meeting, the Vicar presiding over a fair attendance. Owing to no suitable date being available in December it was decided not to hold a meeting till February. The question of Bible teaching for older children was discussed and as the outcome, offers of assistance were received from Mesdames Raleigh and Simmers in the teaching of the Sunday School children. The Vicar is to take charge of the older children. A suggestion that Bishop Baddley be invited to Eketahuna to give a lecture on his work and experiences in the Solomon Islands was agreed to. Mr Mutter agreed to attend to the matter.
