GALA WEEKEND
GATHERINGS IN MASTERTON AN ATTRACTIVE PROGRAMME Arrangements have been completed by the Wairarapa Interhouse Association for its programme at the weekend in aid of the patriotic funds. The chairman of the executive committee, Mr G. Daubney, and the secretary, Mr V. G. Davis, have given long hours of their spare time to organising work in order that the arrangements will run smoothly. The weekend activities will commence in the Masterton Park at 2.15 p.m. on Saturday when a spectacular drill and marching contest will be held. A sports programme will follow. On Saturday night in the American Red Cross Service Club a dance will be held at which the presentation of cups will take place. On Sunday afternoon a marching display and band concert will be given by the Trentham military band in the Masterton Park. The programme will commence at 3 o’clock. ,• < On Sunday evening at 8.15 o’clock a military revue will be presented by the Trentham Camp Band and assisting artists. Pam Walker, aged 12 years, and a gold medallist at the recent Nelson competitions, will be featured on the programme. The Masterton Women’s War Service Auxiliary has offered its co-operation in the patriotic effort, and Mesdames Whitaker and McMinn will reserve seats for the concert. They will have a stand outside the W.F.C.A. premises in Queen Street on Saturday morning and will make reservations of seats from ten o’clock onwards. te
