COST=PLUS SYSTEM
ABOLITION WHEREVER POSSIBLE IN AUSTRALIAN WAR CONTRACTS (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) CANBERRA, November 25. Cost-plus systems are to be abolished wherever possible in all war work done by private contractors for the Commonwealth Government. Announcing this, the Prime Minister, Mr Curtin, said that in the early stages of the war it was impossible to .avoid costplus because of the contractors’ ignorance of the cost of producing goods completely new to them. However, both sellers and Government buying departments were now sufficiently experienced to determine fair and reasonable prices.
