CALVES AND LAMBS
TUHITARATA SCHOOL RESULTS
Parents and friends attended in large numbers at the school at Tuhitarata, the occasion being the calf and lamb club judging. Great interest was taken in the competitions, not only by the children but by parents also. The manner in which the exhibits were paraded elicited favourable comment. The judge, Mr J. McDonald, manager of Tauanui Estate, complimented the children on the splendid manner in which they had attended and handled their respective exhibits. The sole teacher, Mr A. J. Keller, was to be congratulated on the success of the efforts of his pupils. The following were the judge's placings: Calves (rearing and handling). Ruth White 1. Jim Davidson 2, John Sutherland 3. Dairy type: Phyllis Gray 1, Jim Davidson 2, Tom Biggar 3. Lambs: James Ahipene 1, Donald Cameron 2, Ross Marshall 3. There was also a competition for the best groomed school pony mid this was won by Jennifer Bell, with John Martin second and James Ahipene third. Health Camp The children of the Pirinoa School subscribed the sum of £1 Ils towards the funds of the Health Camp. Personal Items MT and Mrs P. Macdonald are visiting the Eketahuna district. Mr J. McDonald has returned from a short visit to Ohiki. Messrs John Sutton mid R. Lovegrove loft, on Tuesday for an Air force station in the South Island. Miss Scrimegour is the guest of Mrs J. H. Atkinson. The manv friends of Mr and Mrs G, O. Sutherland, of Pirinoa, will regret- to learn of the death at the Mastertou Hospital yesterday of their infant son Gordon. . . The funeral will leave the Rwwde Presbyterian Church (oniovrow.. totlowing a service at JJBO ptu. for the ■ Pirinoa cemetery.
