CARTERTON
BOWLING CLUB RESULTS OF GAMES (“Times-Age” Special.) The first of the Carterton Club games were played last evening. The green was in good order and the results were:— Champion singles: H. King beat C. H. Barber, 17/13; J. C. Harp beat E. Kilmister, 20/18; F. L. Barr beat S. McCarty, 20/14. Colts’ singles: H. Dudson beat E. H. Smith, 18/12. Good entries have been received for the Carterton Club’s competitions. Twenty-six entries have been received for the champion singles (2 lives), the first round of which must be completed by December 1. For the champion pairs 13 entries have been received and these games must also be completed by December I. Members are asked to play their games promptly. Entries are posted on the club’s notice board at the pavilion. Demolition of Post Office Good progress is being made by the contractor with the demolition of the Carterton Post Office. The work should be finished before Christmas. Personal Items The funeral of the late Mr William Walter Hercock took place yesterday afternoon and was well attended. At his late residence at Waihakeke, a short service was conducted by the Rev W. F. Stent, who also officiated at the Clareville Cemetery. Many beautiful wreaths were sent. The pallbearers were Messrs Joseph John, Sidney R„ Charles W., and Frederick Hercock, all brothers of deceased. St. Mark’s Guild Sale of Work. The annual sale of work of St Mark’s Ladies’ Guild will be held in the State Theatre, Carterton, tomorrow. The stalls will be filled with useful articles. Lunch and afternoon tea will be available.
