EUCHRE PARTY & DANCE GATHERING AT KAIWAIWAI. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a large attendance at the euchre party and dance held in the Kaiwaiwai Hall on Monday night. The euchre winners were:—Ladies: Mrs Ruka, 1; Mrs Baker, 2.. Men; Mr N. Fairbrother, 1; Mrs AV. Benton, 2. The music for the dancing was supplied by Udy’s Orchestra, extras being played by Miss N. Tocker, Mr M. Benton and a soldier. The M’s.C. were Messrs B. Williams and J. Merwood. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss R. Ahipene and partner. Personal. On Saturday night a surprise party was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs H. C. Playle, Kahutara, when about fifty friends gathered to welcome Gunner Stanley Playle, who is home on furlough from overseas. An enjoyable time was spent playing cards and in singing and dancing. First Aid Examinations. The following are the results in connection with the first aid examinations held recently by the PahauteaKahutara sub-centre of the Red Cross Society:—Advanced, Miss B. Beattie (honours), Miss P. Warrington, Mrs R. R. Hood; intermediate, Miss B. Corlet. COSY THEATRE “EBB TIDE.” Tonight there will be shown the brilliant drama, “Ebb Tide,” featuring Oscar Homolka, Ray Milland, Frances Farmer and Lloyd Nolan. The associate picture is “The Barrier,” the sensational Rex Beach story, in which the chief roles are taken by Leo Carrillo and Jean Parker.
