ORDER OF DRUIDS JUVENILE LODGE MEETING, (“Times-Age” Special.) The fortnightly meeting of Pioneer Lodge No. 25, U.A.0.D., was held last night ,Arch Druid Bro. A. Stretton presiding over a good attendance of members. A profit of £7 3s 9d was shown as the result of the recent dance. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Arch Druid, Bro. Steele Robinson; Vice Arch Druid, Bro. Keith Knowles; Inner Guard, Bro. N. Desmond ;Vice Arch Bards, Bros. Ron. Goodin and Alf. Dew; Arch Druid Bards, Bros J. Daysh and I. Merwood; Outer Guard, Bro. Leo Lyster; Musician, Bro. B. McCarty; Minute Secretary, Bro. Ashley Booth; Superintendent, Bro. W .Fryer; Secretary, Bro. E. McKenzie; Treasurer, Bro. R. Smith; M.C., Bro. A. J. Dew. The officers will be installed at next meeting, to which parents and members of Totara Lodge No. 3 will be invited. At the conclusion of the ceremony the visitors will be entertained at supper by the Juveniles. Band Members Entertained. On Monday evening, members of the Carterton Municipal Silver Band were entertained by the Bandmaster, Mr W. Spooner, and Mrs Spooner, at their residence in Rhodes Street. A number of selections were played by the band on the lawn ,after which supper was provided. Mr W. H. Hall thanked Mr and Mrs Spooner for their hospitality, which had been greatly appreciated by the members. Those present derived much pleasure in looking over Mr Spooner’s museum .which is filled with many interesting curios gathered from many parts of New Zealand, and which is probably one of the best equipped private museums in New Zealand. On Sunday week the band will play a programme of music at the band rotunda in Carrington Park. Swimming Baths. Borough workmen were busy yesterday preparing the Carterton swimming baths for the current season. The bed of the baths is being cleaned and water from the high pressure source will later be turned into the baths. The baths should be ready for use in a week or so. . Personal Items. Mrs C. E. Cook, of Pembroke Street, is visiting Featherston. Mr R. G. Kemble was taken ill in’ local business premises yesterday and was later conveyed by ambulance to the Greytown Hospital. Mr and Mrs J. C. Garrity, of Dyerville, accompanied by their two soldier sons, were visitors to Carterton yesterday. Signalman A. R. Tankersley, of the New Zealand Forces overseas, writing to members of the Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge of Odd Fellows on September 5, said that he had met in Cairo a fellow member of the lodge, Bro. Alex Deller, who was fit and well. At the time of ‘writing Signalman Tankersley was. in good health. A farewell gathering will be tendered to Mr and Mrs Tom Hicks by residents of the Dalefield district, in the Dalefield Hall, on Monday evening. Mr and Mrs Hicks were formerly settlers of the district, and recently left to live in retirement in Carterton. . It is to mark the many acts of kindness performed by Mr and Mrs Hicks, and the assistance given by them to the district projects, that the gathering is being held in their honour.
