GREYTOWN
LABOUR PARTY MR AND MRS B. ROBERTS HONOURED. (“Times-Age” Special.) On Saturday night a social gathering and dance was held in the Odd Fellows’ Hall by the combined town and ladies’ branch of the Labour Party, in honour of Mr and Mrs Ben Roberts. Items were contributed by Miss Engelbretson, Miss N. Sugrue and Master R. McHardy. After supper Mr J. Farmer, president of the men’s branch, made a presentation of a silver fruit bowl to Mr and Mrs Roberts, to mark the occasion of their recent marriage. Mrs G. Hood, president of the ladies’ branch, presented Mrs Roberts with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Mr Roberts suitably acknowledged the gift arid Mrs Roberts thanked those present for the welcome they had received. Bowling. In the first game for the Dennes Medal over the weekend, E. Skeet beat H. Johns, the holder. H. W. Feast beat Skeet in the second game. For the Gold Bars, R. Thompson and W. Higgison were challenged three times, defeating Shedden and Carter, H. W. Feast and N. McLeod, and E. Maddison and J. Reid. The McLeod Buttons changed hands when the holders, H. R. Feast and S. Brice were defeated by R. Pickard and A. Thompson. TOWN HALL “EBB TIDE.” ’ Tomorrow night’s programme will be headed by the brilliant drama, “Ebb Tide,” in which the principal roles are taken by Oscar Homolka, Ray Milland and Frances Farmer. The associate picture is Rex Beach’s stirring sea story, “The Barrier,” featuring Leo Carrillo and Jean Parker.
