SCHOOL COMMITTEE MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS. 1 (“Times-Age” Special.) I The monthly meeting of the GreyII town District High School Committee : was held on Tuesday evening. There ■ were present: Messrs H. G. Carter i (chairman), W. Grigg, E. Gayler, L. Huntley, R. O’Neale, W. Wiggins, Mrs Knell (secretary) and the headmaster, Mr S. C. Shedden. Messrs J. Stringfellow and D. Stuart were appointed judges for the lamb and calf competitions which will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 7. The headmaster intimated that on the parents’ day to be held in December, an exhibition of the new physical training would take place. Instructors from the Education Department staff would be present to control the events. It was decided to accept the offer of the Borough Council staff to top-dress the playing area in January. The headmaster reported as follows:—Roll: Primary, 306; secondary, 37. Mrs B. Wilkinson had taken up her position at the District High School, and Miss Harding had left on transfer to Pukehoe. The primers had received their second inoculation against diphtheria on November 2 and would receive the third on December 6. Bowling. Full rink games will be played on the local green on Saturday, commencing at 1.45 p.m. Challenge games will be played at 4.15 p.m. TOWN HALL “WAKE ISLAND.” Tomorrow afternoon and evening there will be shown the outstanding picture, “Wake Island,” in which the chief roles are taken by Brian Donlevy, MacDonald Carey, Walter Abel and Robert Preston.
