HEAVY TOLL

OF JAPANESE SHIPS & AIRCRAFT. TAKEN BY LIBERATOR GROUP. ' (Special Australian Correspondent.) SYDNEY, November 11. The record of the “Jolly Rogers,” a Liberator bomber formation based on New Guinea, offers an indication of the terrific drain on Japanese air and sea power which has been caused by Allied aircraft in this theatre. In the past 11 months this unit alone has destroyed or damaged 450,000 tons of enemy shipping and shot down 308 enemy planes, with 92 others probably destroyed. The formation claims to have shot down more enemy planes than any other American bombardment group in the world.
