EUCHRE PARTY & DANCE GATHERING AT KAIWAIWAI. ("Times-Age” Special.) The Kaiwaiwai Hall Committee is to be congratulated on its successful euchre party and dance held on Monday night. There was a very large attendance and a most enjoyable time was spent. The music for the dancing was supplied by Mr Udy’s Orchestra, and much appreciated extras were played by Misses G. Fraser, N, Tocker and McKinley. The M’s.C. were Messrs C. Merewood and B. Williams. The Monte Carlo dance was won by Mr and Mrs Riki. The euchre winners were:—Ladies: Mrs Riki, 1; Mrs Grimstone, 2. Men: Mr McKenna, 1; Mrs Fuge, 2. The mystery envelope was won by Mr W. Willis, and a guessing competition by Mrs Worsley. Bowling. The following are the teams to play against Greytown on Saturday at Greytown: Card ,Chasten, Higgison, Rolls (s); Latta, Benton, Bloxam, O’Neale (s); Lipinski, Fuge, Crawford, James (s); Robinson, Elder, Rowles, Thompson (s). Personal. The funeral of Mrs Florence Juno took place at the Featherston Cemetery yesterday afternoon and was very largely attended. The services at the St. John’s Church and at the graveside were conducted by the Rev. J. R. Higgs. The pall-bearers were Messrs R. Elbe, J. Anderson, E. Bourke, M. Paget (Pahiatua), A. Birt (Upper Hutt) and F. Wood. The late Mrs Juno was born in Gisborne and later lived for many years in Pahiatua, until her marriage, since which she has lived in Pahautea. The late Mrs Juno was a keen worker for the Church of St. John’s, and was a Guild member. She took the initiative in connection with the building of the hall at Pahautea. She was held in high esteem by all with whom she came in contact. Her death is a serious loss to the district. Among others, beautiful wreaths were forwarded by the Pahautea Hall Committee, Pahautea Ladies’ Guild, Kahu-tara-Pahautea Home Guard, Women’s Division of the Farmers* Union, and Women’s Institute. She leaves a husband and family of four to mourn her loss. COSY THEATRE “THE GOOD EARTH.” Tonight’s programme is headed by the brilliant drama, “The Good Earth,” in which the chief roles are taken by Paul Muni and Luise Rainer.
