GENERAL ASSEMBLY BUSINESS SESSION AT DUNEDIN (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, November 9. The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand continued its business sessions today. The moderator, the Rt Rev D. C. Herron, presided. Presenting the report of the training institute and women's work committee, the convener, the Rev Ronald S. Watson, said that the finance committee of .the assembly had been asked to include in the budget the sum of £250 for institute and women's work, and the synod of Otago and Southland had been asked to make an annual grant from the funds equal to the amount of the principal’s salary, £2OO. Mr Watson added that the National Service Department was prepared to grant exemption from service to young women who had been accepted for training in the women's institute. The * report was adopted. A motion was carried recommending to employing authorities that where accommodation was not provided the standard minimum stipend for ordained deaconesses should be £lBO per annum (with the objective of £2OO per annum), plus one month’s holiday and adequate travelling allowances. Mr T. C. Ross, chairman of Knox College Council, said the matter of accommodation for the Theological Hall was still very pressing, but the funds available were insufficient to carry out a long-range building scheme. Sg: master of Knox College, the Rev H. J. Ryburn, said there was a keen demand for entry into the college. The Rev D. N. Mac Diarmid appealed for consideration to be given to cases of older home missionaries, and gave notice of his intention to move that this be done.
