LADIES’ AUXILIARY MEETING IN MASTERTON ANOTHER SCHOOL GAINS A FLAG A meeting of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Navy: League was held in Masterton yesterday, Mrs S. R. Gawith presiding. Others present were Mesdames A. Caselberg, W. A. S. Fletcher, A. H. Daniell, J. V. Gordon, C. Cameron Cook, D. M. Graham, D. Buchanan, H. K. Mclntosh, P. J. Borthwick and Misses Cameron and J. McLaren. Apologies for absence were received from. Mesdames W. R. Birch, W. G. Lamb, R. C. Drummond, H. McKenzie Douglas, H. Beetham, E. G. Norman, T. Jordon, G. C. Williams, C. Deans, 0. A. Bunny Misses Guild and B. Vallance. The ■ wool committee reported that one local man had been supplied with woollen comforts during the month, and that 65 garments had been despatched to Wellington. The purchasing committee reported that 14 garments had been bought for the Seamen’s Mission in October and a letter of appreciation was received from the Rev B. J. Williams, Missioner, in which he stated that some of the clothing was being used to fit out a seaman who had been torpedoed for the seventh time since the war began. The secretary reported that to date 383 school members had been enrolled and that the Ngahape School, with 100 per cent membership, had gained a flag. It was decided that if a suitable naval film could be obtained and arrangements could be made, for country children to attend, a picture entertainment would be held in February or March, to which all financial school members for 1943 would be invited. On this occasion it was hoped to arrange for flags and pennants gained by schools to be presented.
