STUD STOCK
LIMITED EXPORT LIKELY FROM BRITAIN IN THE NEAR FUTURE. DEMAND IN DOMINIONS & INDIA. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 10. 40 a.m.) LONDON, November 4. Australian and New Zealand breeders requiring high-class British blood stock necessary to conserve the purity of their strains may soon be able to place purchasing commissions in the United Kingdom, knowing that deck space will be available, says the Australian Associated Press. Sir Charles McCann, South Australian Agent-General in London, who has just been appointed liaison officer for the Livestock Export Group, said he hoped that at least one ship would be placed at the disposal of Australian and New Zealand breeders very soon for the transport of livestock from the United Kingdom.
“For three years,” Sir Charles said, “no stock of any consequence has been shipped to Australia, New Zealand, India or South Africa. Breeders in New Zealand are better situated than those in Australia, the colder climate helping to maintain the purity of New Zealand herds and flocks, but breeders in both countries are crying out for new blood. The Board of Trade has convened the Livestock Export Group to conserve goodwill abroad for British breeders. The group, representing al breed societies in Britain, is just an anxious to export selected livestock as Dominion breeders are to receive them. My liaison is to negotiate transport for the earliest moment suitable for Dominion breeders and practicable under war conditions.” )
