GOLF CLUB SEASON CLOSED. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the official closing of the season in connection with the Martinborough Golf Club Mr J. de V. W. Blathwayt (captain) referred to the successful season the club had enjoyed notwithstanding the adverse conditions experienced. Miss M. C. Martin (president) presented the trophies won during the season. Uhe club championship was played over 36 holes between H. F. Harvey and W. G.' Martin. Harvey won by excellent approaching by 6/5. The B championship final between A. C. Caseley and A. B. Martin resulted in a win for Caseley, 1 up. Bowling Club. Unfavourable weather delayed the opening of the bowling season, but play was started on Saturday last. The green played very well, notwithstanding the wet conditions that have prevailed. There was no official opening and play was confined to three rinks. Women’s Division. At a meeting of the local branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union a balance of 17s 6d from the soldiers’ parcel fund was transferred to the prisoner of war parcels fund. A parcel of knitted goods was forwarded to headquarters for the Merchant Marine. The sum of £2 5s 8d was collected for the Makogai Leper Fund. As the branch will be 15 years old in February, 1944, it was decided to hold a birthday party during that month.
