MAURICEVILLE

GIFT EVENING GATHERING ON SATURDAY. (“Times-Age” Special.) A gift evening was held in the Mauriceville East Hall on Saturday night in honour of Private McClelland, who has returned from overseas and his wife (nee Sina Jensen) and Mrs Lloyd Bigley (nee Pat Childs) whose husband is serving with the U.S.M.C. Mr J. W. Milner, in making presentations to the guests of the evening, referred to the high esteem in which they were held. Private McClelland replied on behalf ■of his wife and himself and Mr H. Milner on behalf of Mrs Bigley. Lieutenant McClelland (a brother of Private McClelland), thanked the committee for its entertainment. The music for the dancing was played by Mr D. Grant and Mr Gyde, of Hastwell, contributed extras. Mr J. Bain was M.C. Tennis Club. The annual meeting of the Mauriceville East Tennis Club was held recently, the president, Mrs C. M. Childs being in the chair. Officers elected were: —President, Mrs Childs; secretary, Mr N. Myers; captain, Mr J. L. McArley; committee, Mrs Bain, Miss Muriel Broadbent and Mr G. Wilkin. It was decided to topdress the courts.
