GREYTOWN
WOMEN’S DIVISION MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mrs R. Beu presided over a splendid attendance of members and several visitors at the monthly meeting of the Women's Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. Sympathy was expressed with Mesdames Knell, Bull, Brooks, Richards and Lyford in their bereavements. Mrs Laurenson and Mrs H. W. Woods, new members, were welcomed. It was decided to invite members of neighbouring branches to a social gathering on November 10. Mrs Beu gave an interesting report on the last Provincial Council meeting. On behalf of the members, Mrs Beu made presentations of woollen comforts to 7 soldiers at a recent complimentary social gathering. Mrs 1 J. Stringfellow thanked members for their kindness to her while in the hospital recently. It was decided to donate a trophy to the Calf Club at the Greytown school for the next competition. Final arrangements were made for the members’ social gathering to be held on November 10 in the Odd Fellows’ Hall, members being invited to bring their husbands. An amusing competition arranged by Mrs D. Fairbrother, was won by Mrs F. Bunny. Votes of thanks were accorded to Mrs Fairbrother and the hostesses, Mesdames Benseman, Barcham, O’Neale and Humphrey. TOWN HALL EXCELLENT PROGRAMME. Tonight there will be two splendid pictures shown. “Among the Living’’ provides plenty of sensation with Albert Dekker and Susan Hayward in the chief roles. “Riding the Wind,” shows Tim Holt at his best in a thrilling western drama.
