SOUTH FEATHERSTON
SCHOOL ASSOCIATION 81-MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The bi-monthy meeting of the South Featherston Home and School Association was held in the local Hall when A. Clark presided over a good at- ' of members. Apologies for X were received from Mesdames A. Burt, Wakely and D. Robertson, Mrs. S. Benton conducted a competition for a tin of home-made biscuits, and a bring-and-buy stall was held. The Rev. J. R. Higgs, of Featherston, gave a most interesting address on Japan and Hongkong, which was greatly appreciated. Mrs. Clark, on behalf of the members, thanked Mr. Higgs. The hostesses were Mesdames Garrett, Rendle and P. Gain. Members met recently to bid farewell to Mrs. A. Robertson, who has left the district to reside in Masterton. £ very enjoyable time was spent in competitions and community singing. Mrs Wilton, on behalf of the members, presented Mrs. Robertson with a black feltex shopping bag and a posy. Mrs. Robertson thanked the members for their gift and wished the Association every success. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Wilton, Cuff and Carter. Euchre Party and Dance. There was a fair attendance at the fortnightly euchre party and dance held in the South Featherston Hall by the War Service Committee. Mr. T. Udy’s orchestra provided the music, and Mr. H. Graham carried out the duties of M.C. The Monte Carlo waltzes were won by Miss P. Robertson and partner and Miss P. Snell and partner. The card winners were: Mrs. Fuge, Mr. Thompson and Mr. A. Gain. Mrs. D. Robertson, on behalf of the settlers of South Featherston, presented a cheque to Mr. and Mrs. A. Robertson, who have since left the district to reside in Masterton. Mr. Robertson suitably replied. Supper was served by a capable ladies’ committee. A cake donated by Mrs. A. Robertson was won by R. Cook, Morison’s Bush. Soldiers Entertained. An enjoyable time was spent in the South Featherston Hall when local soldiers who are on leave from the Middle Easy,, were entertained. The time was spent in games and competitions. The competition winners were Miss Gregor and Mrs. Fraser. Mr. P. Wilton, on behalf of the War Service Committee, wished their guests the best of luck. Corporal Simmonds and Privates Rasmussen and Higginson replied. / Personal Items. Mrs. Lissington, of Palmerston North is staying with her daughter, Mrs. H. H. Willis, South Featherston. Miss Ngaire Gain, of Ohau, was a reecnt visitor to South Featherston. Miss Jean Burt spent the weekend with hep sister, Mrs. G. W. Holmes, Lower Hutu Driver W. Mellish has returned to camp after having spent leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Mellish, South Featherston.
