The Chinese have recaptured Potien and Wangchen, near Kwangteh, in Anhwei Province, says a Chinese communique. The Japanese had burnt all the homes in the towns and hrutall;. massacred many civilians. Severe fighting continues on the Yunnan-Burma front. The official Tokio radio said that 14 Liberators based in China attacked Hanoi, the capital of occupied IndoChina, yesterday. They injured civilians but did not damage installations. There has been more sharp fighting in Yunnan Province, southern China, where battles are in progress for the Salween River crossing, a London cablegram states. In the upper Salween Gorge the Chinese have two bridgeheads which they are fighting hard to keep in the face of attacks by superior numbers of Japanese forces.
