RUGBY IN BRITAIN
NEW ZEALAND SERVICES BEAT AUSTRALIA. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, October 25. The New Zealand Services’ Rugby team had no difficulty in beating the R.A.A.F. by 15 points to 3, but the R.A.A.F., with a scratch team, playad well, especially on defence. The New Zealanders led at half-time 6-0, the West Coast player, A. J. Cooper, and the King Country player, Kilgour, scoring. Cooper was injured, and at the end of the first half he was replaced by M. K. Bond, Auckland. J. W. Gordon and Kilgour scored again, and T. A. Dance, Wellington, kicked a penalty. The R.A.A.F. team got a runaway try in the last minute. The greasy ball and soggy ground handicapped the players. L. H. Dustin, Palmerston North, and C. J. Phelps, Wellington, were outstanding forwards, Dustin being selected to play for the R.A.F. against the Army next Saturday. C. N. Hewitt, Auckland, at half, and R. Veitch, Wellington, at first five-eighth, played well. Dance gave an excellent exhibition o; kicking at full-back. Other members of the team were E. Grant, Gisborne, G. Brown, Carterton, A. N. Laurence, Hawera," F. W. Crist and T. Blomfield, Auckland, H. Sturrock, Canterbury, and A. T. Kofoed; Taranaki.
