CARTERTON

ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS LOYAL HEART OF OAK LODGE. (“Times- Age" Special.) P.G. Bro. W. McPherson presided over the fortnightly meeting of Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge last evening. Sick pay amounting to £9 6s 8d was passed for payment. One member declared on the sick funds of the lodge. Bro. Jas F. Wallis, who is a patient in the Greytown Hospital, wrote stating that his health was improving. A letter was received from Bro. A. J. Whiter, of Heretaunga, stating that ho was still incapacitated and unable to work. The District Secretary notified that the next meeting of the Wellington District Management Committee would be held on October 30. Show Successes. Mr Martin J. Parker, of Dalefield, was very successful with his Friesian stock at the Hawke’s Bay Show. He exhibited 12 head of cattle and won 11 first prizes, two championships, 2 reserve championships, and one second prize. His stock was outstanding. Closing of Shops. The Mayor, Mr D. L. Taverner, invites the business people of Carterton to close their premises on Thursday at 11 a.m., “People’s Day,” at the Show. Personal Items. Mr S. Dean, of the New Zealand Rugby Football Union, will visit Carterton tomorrow night to discuss matters with the Wairarapa Union in connection with the Memorial Park, Masterton.

Mrs F. Sage, of Lower Hutt, is a visitor to Carterton.
