NAZI FURY
VENTED ON UKRAINE WHOLESALE MURDER & DESTRUCTION. APPALLING STORY TOLD. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, October 20. After showing a film in Moscow dealing with the recapture of the Ukraine, the producer, M. Alexander Dovzhenko, told the audience that when the Ukraine was liberated it would be found that 12,000,000 Russians had been killed. The Germans in the last few weeks had been systematically driving the Russians ahead of their retreat, and the roads from Dnepropetrovsk, Kiev and other places were crowded with evacuees. Those who were unable to keep pace were ruthlessly killed. The Germans had partially or completely demolished every town east of the Dnieper, and with the Germans in their present mood it was likely that no city or village west of the Dnieper would escape, M. Dovzhenko said. The Germans had begun the systematic destruction of the beautiful city of Kiev on September 8, and now they were laying the city waste. Russians who had escaped from Kiev declare that the Germans asserted they would not leave a stone standing.
