CROQUET

MASTERTON CLUB OPENS SEASON. The Masterton Croquet Club held its official opening day yesterday, under ideal weather conditions. The lawns were in perfect order. The president, Mrs Clayson, welcomed the members and visitors. The president then played the first ball, declared the greens open, and wished one and all a happy and successful season. The afternoon was spent in competition play, the results being. Break: Mrs Freeman 1, Mrs Rigg 2, Mrs Shearer consolation. Hurry scurry: Mesdames Bassett and Clarkson Roquet to peg: Mrs Finlayson, consolation Mrs McMaster. French croquet: Mr. 1 ? Weller, consolation Mrs Rigg. Visitors hit the peg: Mrs Wilkinson.
