WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT PARKVALE. COMPETITION RESULTS. (“Times- Age” Special.) • Mrs R. P. Williams presided over a good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Parkvale Women’s Institute held in the Parkvale Hall. A very interesting display of articles made from felt was made by Mrs Mannell, for which she was thanked and presented with a beautiful bunch of tulips. Two newly elected members were welcomed by the president. Mrs R. P. Williams was thanked for her donation of potatoes for the annual competition. Mesdames H Goodin and L. W. Hurndell, who judged the monthly competitions, were thanked and presented with posies. The following were the awards:—Polyanthus: Mrs Williams, 1; Mrs E. Rose, 2; Mrs N. McKinnon, 3. Shrub: Mrs Nolan, 1; Mrs McKinnon, 2; Mrs J. Rayner, 3. Cooking (seniors): Mrs Williams, 1; Mrs Conwell, 2; Mrs J Warrington, 3. Man’s buttonhole (seniors): Mrs C. Jensen, 1; Mrs Conwell, 2; Mrs McKinnon, 3. Vase, decorated (seniors); Mrs N. McKinnon, 1, Mrs J. Rayner, 2; Mrs E. Rose, 3. Iceland poppies: Miss S. Rayner, 1; Mrs R. Gallon; 2. Juniors (flowers): Miss G. Lukies’ 1; Miss S. Rayner, 2; Miss Mavis Lukies, 3. Cooking: Miss M. Lukies, 1; Miss J. Lukies, 2; Miss G. Lukies, 3. Decorated vase (juniors): Misses S. Rayner 1, J. Lukies 2. The hostesses were Mesdames N. Peacock, W. Hammond, and Miss JLukies. _____
