GUN DOG TRIALS

WAIRARAPA CLUB’S ANNUAL CHAMPIONSHIP TO BE HELD AT FEATHERSTON AT WEEKEND Given fair weather conditions the Wairarapa Gun Dog Club’s 1943 championships, to be held on Sunday next at the Lake Domain, Featherston, should be rewarded with all round success. An enthusiastic committee, drawn from all parts of the Wairarapa, has been working under the able leadership of the club’s president, Mr J. Bouzaid, of Masterton, and the southern executive members, Messrs A. Mclvor, Featherston, and W. Nix, Tauherenikau, report that they have their part of the arrangements well in hand. The judges will be Messrs R. V. Mason (championships) and C. E. Grey and W. Harding. In addition to the championships, which comprise the All Breed Championship (chief) and the breed tests for Pointers and Setters, Spaniels and Retrievers, other events will be staged, and a novel judging competition will be conducted in which each spectator will be furnished with a judging card upon which to enter comments, etc. For those attending the trials and desiring to make a picnic of it, hot water for tea will be available free and there is no charge for admission to the gathering. Indications point to the entries being large and representative, and at least one South Island owner, Mr Bert Marker, of Christchurch, will make the trip.
