BUILDING SOCIETY

WORKERS’ MUTUAL BENEFIT. ANNUAL MEETING HELD LAST NIGHT. The annual meeting of the shareholders of the No. 2 Workers’ Mutual Benefit Building Society was held last evening, when Mr R. Krahagen, chairman, presided over a small attendance I of shareholders. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet. Mr Krahagen gave a resume of the workings of the society. He pointed out that advances made in the past financial year totalled some £7400, and the aggregate of advances made by the society to the close of the financial year was in excess of £136,000. That gave some idea of the part the society was nlaying in the community. Messrs W. E. Chunn, A. H. Eddy, R. Page and J. A. Russell were re-elected to the board of directors, and Mr G. W. Sellar, F.1.C.A., was again appointed as the shareholders’ auditor. Following the annual meeting ballots were held in both groups, the successful shareholders being: Messrs J. P. Lyall, of Balclutha, and J. A. Russell and H. J. Rick, of Masterton. The sum of £lOOO was disposed of by ballot.
