SENTENCED TO DEATH
COMMANDER OF U-BOATS IN NORWAY FOR ACCEPTING BOGUS REPORTS OF ALLEGED ATTACKS & SINKINGS (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.20 a.m.) LONDON, October 7. The commander of German submarines stationed at Kirkness, in North Norway, has been sentenced to death “for ignoring the fact that submarines under his command repeatedly put to sea, fired torpedoes blindly and returned to report a large number of enemy vessels sunk.” Reporting this, the Stockholm newspaper “Aftonbladet” adds that the crews of German vessels stationed in Alta Fiord recently were relieved because of their low morale.
