HARRIER ACTIVITIES
1 ■ 'V KIATERE HARRIER CLUB. WINS FOR BURGESS AND GREAVES. On Saturday members of the Kiatere Harrier Club competed for trophies presented by 2nd Lieut. L. Francis and Mrs Francis. The juniors completed one lap—a distance of 2J miles —while the seniors ran 5 miles. In the senior race, during the second lap, W. Burgess. who was having his first run for two years, went through the field to win comfortably from W. McDonald, with G. Hayes third. Detailed results are as follow: — Juniors: K. Greaves (handicap Imin. 30 sec.), time, 20min. 29sec., 1; E. Pickett (3.0), 20.47, 2; A. Pickett (2.45;, 20.50, 3. Fastest times: K. Greaves, 18.59; A. Pickett, 20.35; E. Pickett, 20.47. Seniors: W. Burgess (handicap 10 sec.), 40min. 33sec., 1; W. McDonald (scr.), 40.40, 2; G. Hayes (2.10), 41.20, 3. Fastest times: W. McDonald, 36.40; W. Burgess, 36.43; G. Hayes, 38.30. Next Saturday the primary schools’ cross-country race will be held, and about’ 60 boys are expected to compete over a distance of 2i miles. Teams of five will run for a shield presented by the Kiatere Harrier Club.
