IN NEW ZEALAND ELECTION. TAKEN IN GREAT BRITAIN. (Special P.A. Correspondent.) (Received This Day, 9.25 a.m.) LONDON, September 27. The British newspapers have made no comment so far on the New Zealand general election, contenting themselves with giving a brief report of the results. It cannot be stated that the election aroused much interest here, but that is not surprising, in view of the war news and the political rearrangements following upon the death of Sir Kingsley Wood. The defeat of Mr J. A. Lee and the Independents caused the chief comment in New Zealand circles here, which anticipated a fall in Labour’s majority. There was also some interest in Mr Fraser’s reduced majority in his seat.
